AIR CONDITIONING REPAIR AND RECHARGE
We have added to our list of services!
A recent purchase of an air conditioning unit now allows us to repair and recharge your air con provided your vehicle is fitted with R134A Refrigerant. Due to a law change, all cars from 17 plate onward use a different gas which we can’t recharge but very few use this gas before 17 plate.
We will be offering an Introductory price of £39.99 + VAT for a limited period only. This will also include a leak test.
Unfortunately the air con is not part of the standard MOT test. To keep your air conditioning in order, ensure you use it every so often (even in the winter months!) to keep the oil circulating. If the system lies dormant for too long, the refrigerant gas will be used up more quickly.
If you're not sure whether you need your air conditioning repaired or recharged, here are some signs you do:
- Blowing warm or hot air.
If the air is not as cool as before, it could be down to the need for a recharge with new refrigerant as it gradually depletes over time. Though coupled with multiple symptoms, the system may need a repair.
- Unpleasant smells
A strange smell circulating when the air con is turned on could be down to a mould build up caused by the damp environment of the system. This is easily fixed by an anti-bacterial treatment but should be seen to straight away to avoid the spread of bacteria.
- Strange noises
This can be an indicator of compressor failure, the air conditioning pump. If bearings in the compressor break down, this can contaminate your vehicles other components with metal particles.
